1938, model 44, two door, fast back sedan. I bought the car around 1981 and drove it until 1983 when I decided it needed a restoration.  It has been is the restoration process, off and on, for over 25 years. The car now has a rebuilt 3.9 rear end, rebuilt transmission, rebuilt steering box, dipped and sealed gas tank with new sending unit. The frame has been sand blasted and painted and is complete except for gas and brake lines. The brakes have been converted to 1956 large series to achieve a fatter brake shoe (all bolt-on). The backing plates on the '56 (rear) had a hole to receive the shock lever but that has been welded and painted to look "original." Large tubular shocks have been fitted in the rear very similar to the original size. The original shock hangers were bad so they were replaced from a good parts car.

The body has been "dipped" and all the pinholes and dents and other problems were fixed until the body shop stopped work. It has been sprayed and treated with rust prohibitive and is covered in a garage. Every thing, or as much as possible is there, down to the interior plastics, tail light lenses, stainless steel exhaust system, hood trim, stainless steel side trim and all. The dash and interior window trim have been hand wood-grained by a professional artist who specialized in the process. I just ran out of money and enthusiasm to finish this beautiful body style. In the process of that restoration I have collected many, many extra and duplicate parts for this 1938 small series Buick. The only thing missing is the engine block & crank, which were "lost" during the overhaul.

I would consider any reasonable offer that would encompass the whole collection if someone would take on this project and give this 1938 Buick a good home. I'm still a member of the Buick Club of America and was a member of the original 1937-1938 Buick for over 23 years. Harry Logan and I produced the Torque Tube for over eleven years.
